1934-36 Diamond Stars Baseball Set Guide

Green ink (1934/35)

Blue ink (1936)
Set Description
National Chicle released the Diamond Stars card set from 1934-36. This set contains 108 cards and has a very unique look to them. With the color selection, bright backgrounds featuring stadiums, and color art renderings of photographs, the set has a very art deco feel to it. The fronts of the cards have a life-like drawing of each player and their name printed in the background. The backs contain the card along with either a biography or playing tip. As mentioned, cards were released from 1934 to 1936. The copyright dates are printed on the back. The ink of the script on the back can also indicate what year they were printed, as cards from 1934/35 have green ink and cards from 1936 have blue ink. The set contains many stars from the era, such as Hank Greenberg, Lefty Grove, Jimmie Foxx, and Mel Ott just to name a few. The set has many variations due to the year the card was printed (copyright changed). There are also several significants errors in the set also, the largest being Hank Greenbergs name misspelled as "Greenburg". This error is quite rare and valuable.
