1962 Topps Baseball Card Set Guide
Set Description
Topps once again bumped up the set size in 1962, this time to 598 cards. This set definitely has a vintage feel to it, as the borders on the front are wood grained. The design is fairly simple, with the photograph taking up most of the real estate on the front of the card. The lower right hand corner is meant to look like the photo is being pulled up, revealing the players name, team, and position. This year is notorious for condition issues, as the brown border easily shows imperfections and damage. The set itself is a lot of fun to collect but can be challenging to complete. Each of the 7 series included a subset (such as "League Leaders", "Babe Ruth Series","World Series Highlights", "All-Stars", and "Rookie Parade" just to name a few). There are also many multi-player cards and team checklists. This set also has a fair number of difficult to find "high number" cards in series 7, along with short prints in that series which are even harder to find. Just like 1961, stamps were included in wax packs. A complete set consists of 200 cards.
