1955 Bowman Baseball Card Set Guide

Set Description
1955 was the final set Bowman released prior to losing the card war with Topps and going out of business. They certainly went out with bang. Bowman expanded the set to include 320 different cards. The design is something quite different than anything seen before. The front of the cards were produced to look like wood grained televisions. Each card has a photograph surrounded by the TV set. The players name was placed in a white box below the image. Each card is horizontal and has a small banner on the lower border stating "color TV". Card #'s 1-64 have more of a tan look to the wood grain, while #'s 65-320 have a dark wood grain. Another interesting feature with this set was the inclusion of 31 umpires in series 2. The set packs the usual star cards, including Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, and Ernie Banks.
