1964 Topps Baseball Card Collection with 2 Mantles Purchased in Plymouth, MI from Original Owner

Parting with a collection you’ve had your entire life is never easy. Finding someone who will appreciate your collection is an important component in the process. Kevin reached out to us about his 1964 Topps baseball collection. He mentioned he read about some of our recent purchases, and felt we would be a good fit. We agreed to meet at a coffee shop to review the collection, and we were blown away by what he had. Kevin pulled out a partial set of 1964 Topps cards, loaded with hall of famers. Kevin shared that he had grown up in Wisconsin, and had very vivid memories of running down to a local convenient store to buy packs of baseball cards with friends. He mostly cared about the gum, but appreciated the cards, as he was obsessed with baseball at the time. For whatever reason, he only collected in 1964, so all the cards were from this one year. He had taken the cards with him during several moves, and he felt it was time to move on from them. We negotiated a bit and came to a fair deal. Kevin mentioned how he felt very comfortable with the deal and knew they were going to a good home, which is exactly the type of feedback we strive for.

The collection itself was in really nice condition. There were ~150 cards (mostly from series 1 and 2), along with a handful of Topps Coins, which were also inserted into packs with the cards and gum. About 5 years ago, 20 of the cards were sent into PSA and graded. Almost all ranged from PSA 4-6, with most being 5 and 6 quality. The highlights of the collection included 2 Mickey Mantles (PSA 4 and 6), Pete Rose (PSA 5), Willie Mays (PSA 4), Ernie Banks (PSA 4), and Harmon Killebrew (PSA 5 and 6). The Topps coins were also interesting, as Mantle, Koufax, and McCovey were included. Overall this was a beautiful collection of cards we are extremely happy to own!
