Lou Gehrig is a baseball icon. He played with Babe Ruth on the New York Yankees during the 1920s and 30s and was part of the feared "Murderers Row" 1927 team, which is considered by many to be the greatest lineup of all time. Gehrig put together some of the greatest statistical seasons of all time. He won the 1934 triple crown, batting .363, with 166 RBI and 49 HR. Gehrig's illustrious career was tragically cut short, as he was diagnosed with a rare neurological disease, ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
