1908-10 E91 American Caramel Baseball Card Guide & Checklist

1908-10 E91 Set Description

e91 mathewson_edited.png

The 1908-1910 E93 American Caramel set is one of the more plain sets released during the early 1900s. Generic cartoonish images (which do not look like the actual players) were reused for multiple players. Of the 99 cards in total, there are 33 unique images. Fronts of the card feature the generic image with the player’s full name, position, and team on the bottom. Backs contain a description of the set, checklist, and small ad for American Caramel Co. The set itself is actually made up of 3 different subsets. Players from different teams were released depending on the year. E91-A was printed in 1908, and contained players from the Philadelphia Athleticss, New York Giants and Chicago Cubs. E91-B was released in 1909 and features the same teams as E91A. E91-C was released in 1910, and focused on players from the Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Senators and Boston Red Sox. This last release contained most of the heavy hitters: Wagner, Johnson, Wood, and Speaker. Prices for this set are generally cheaper compared with others of the era, as the generic images aren’t as popular among collectors.
