1909 E101 Set Of 50 Baseball Cards
1909 E101 Set Description

Not much is known about the 1909 E101 Set of 50 caramel cards. The fronts of each card consist of a brightly colored lithograph of each player with his last name, position, and team listed on the bottom. The confusion with this set stems from the lack of information on the back. Whereas most sets contain some type of advertisement for a specific company, the E101 reverse only states "This is one of a set of 50 baseball players". It is unfortunate that no company is credited with the set, as the images are beautiful and the checklist is full of the top players of the era. In fact, 30% of the cards are hall of famers. Included is Ty Cobb, Christy Mathewson, Honus Wagner (batting & throwing), and Cy Young. Cards from this set are tough to find and are quite valuable.
