1954 Topps hockey cards found in belleville MI basement
Sports cards of Detroit sports legends Gordie Howe, Terry Sawchuk, Ted Lindsay, & Alex Delvecchio purchased from family of original owner
A Belleville Michigan man reached out about some vintage hockey cards he was looking to sell. The cards were given to him by his mother-in-law, who stated she found the cards in her basement, and figured they were probably worthless. After close inspection, the cards were far from worthless! The collection contained about 40 1954 Topps Hockey Cards, which was the first hockey set Topps ever released. The set is loaded with hall of famers, and luckily, this collection featured most of them!
The owner figured the cards were originally collected as a child by his father-in-law. Being in the Metro Detroit area, and being a huge fan of the Detroit Redwings, it makes sense why the collection favored the Wings. Included here were the 2 biggest names in the set: 1st year Topps cards of Gordie Howe and Terry Sawchuk! Also included were hall of fame Redwings Ted Lindsay (3 cards) and Alex Delvecchio.
A meet up was scheduled and a free appraisal and cash offer was provided. After a bit of negotiating, we agreed on a price that everyone was satisfied with. We are truly honored to own this original family collection.
