1915 Cracker Jack Baseball Card Guide
Set Description
Cracker Jack followed up their 1914 set with another set of very similar cards. The design and look are virtually identical to the 1914 set. The majority of the card were simply re-used or re-issued. The main difference is that the backs of the cards were printed upside down (compared to the front) in the 1915 set. Cards were also printed on thicker card stock. In addition to getting cards out of boxes of Cracker Jacks, collectors were also able to purchase a complete set from the company. Compare this to 1914, when cards were only available through buying boxes of Cracker Jacks. As a result, high grade examples are much more common in 1915 compared to 1914. 32 additional players included in the set (#145-176). Other updates included replacing Rollie Zeider for Oscar Dugey, and Frank Chance for Hal Chase. One of the other key changes was switching the Christy Mathewson horizontal action pose for a portrait pose. In general 1915 cards are slightly cheaper than 1914 cards, as the majority of the cards look identical to their 1914 counterparts. Since there is no 1915 horizontal action pose of Mathewson, the 1914 card carries a large premium in the hobby. The 1915 set still includes a long list of key Hall of Famers headlined by Joe Jackson, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson, and Christy Mathewson just to name a few.
